Texas Hold'em Game Rules

In Hold'em, players receive two down cards (hole cards), after which there is a round of betting. Three community cards (called the "flop") are dealt face up on the board and another round of betting occurs, starting with the first active player in front of the button. The next two board cards (called the "turn" and "river") are turned over one at a time with a round of betting after each. A player may use any five-card combination, including one, both, or none of their hole cards. When it's time to "showdown" the hands, the player with the best five cards wins the hand.

Bets and Raises

In limit Hold'em, there are a maximum of four bets, with one bet and three raises.

A wager must be at least the size of the previous bet unless player is all-in.

An all-in wager of less than half a bet does not reopen the betting for a player who has already acted. A player, who has not yet acted and faces an all-in wager of less than half a bet, may fold, call, or complete the wager. An all-in wager of a half a bet or more is treated as a full bet.

If two or more players' hands have the same value, the first player clockwise from the button will receive the odd chip.

If two or more hands tie, all side pots and the main pot will be split as separate pots.

Button Rules
The button rotates clockwise at the end of each hand and designates the position of the from where the small and big blinds will be posted. The first card is dealt to the player in the small blind and continues in clockwise order until all eligible players receive two hole cards. The button moves in clockwise order at the start of the next hand.

Blinds

The small and big blinds are forced bets and initiate action. Blinds are posted before a new hand is dealt. A blind will count towards a bet. The first eligible player clockwise from the button posts the small blind. The player clockwise from the small blind posts the big blind. The next eligible player clockwise from the player posting the big blind is first to act. On all subsequent betting rounds, the action begins with the first eligible player to the left of the button.

A new player entering a table must post the big blind or an amount equal to the big blind before receiving a hand. The player may also sit out until it is time to post the big blind. A new player may not post in between the blinds and the button.

When action is down to two players the player on the button has the small blind.

A new player who elects to wait until the button has passed once without posting is not considered an active player and may post the big blind at any time after the button passes.

If an active player has missed the small blind, that player will be required to post the small blind before receiving a hand, however the small blind will not count towards a bet and is considered a "dead" blind.

An active player that has missed both the small a big blind will be required to post both blinds before receiving a hand. The small blind will be considered "dead" and will not count towards a bet.

If there are no raises when the action reaches the player in the big blind, that player will have the "option" to raise.
